In 2020, a group of dedicated parents saw a gap: too many girls wanted to play volleyball, and too few local opportunities existed. They built something from scratch — and over 80 girls showed up in the first season alone.
From that spark, the Squamish Youth Girls Volleyball Club was born. Today, SVC Wild supports five competitive teams competing up to the national level, plus weekly development programs for players of all levels across Squamish, Whistler and Pemberton.

Why Girls in Sport?
The Canadian Women in Sport Foundation Rally Report found that 1 in 3 girls leave sport by late adolescence, compared to 1 in 10 boys. We exist to change that in the Sea to Sky region.
Research shows that keeping teen girls active in sport leads to:
- Reduced risk of depression and anxiety
- Improved fitness, mood, and well-being
- Boosted self-esteem and body image
- Enhanced social interaction and sense of belonging
- Increased resilience and coping skills
- Improved sleep quality and cognitive development
- Leadership, teamwork, and community involvement
- Positive relationships with adults and peers
- Motivation for lifelong physical activity
And the impact lasts: 94% of C-Suite female executives played sports, and 74% say a background in sport accelerates career and leadership opportunities.
Our Commitment
We are committed to reducing barriers to participation and ensuring this program remains accessible to all local families. Built from the ground up as a true community club, SVC Wild is led by passionate volunteer coaches deeply committed to youth development.
